Here’s how to join the movement:
- Download + print your sign. If you don’t have access to a printer, you can download the image directly onto your phone, and use your phone as the sign.
- Snap a photo of you holding the sign sometime between June 11th and June 15th. Be as creative as you wanna be.
- Share your photo on Twitter, Instagram, and/or Facebook. Add #okaytohurt + the link to this page somewhere in your post.
P.S. You’re welcome to include your own story of hurt in your post (mental illness, loss, addiction, body image, etc.), but it’s totally okay if you’re not comfortable with that.

About the campaign:
Some many of us are silently suffering in isolation. We tell ourselves that it’s not okay to feel how we feel. And often others don’t know what to say to us, or how to be present with us.
Sometimes we just need to know it’s okay to be who we are in those hard moments. There’s power in presence and compassion.
We’re hoping to remove some of the shame around hurt and pain in a simple but effective way.
